Angels.... Watching Over Him...

After listening to leaders from my church who spoke to the world last weekend (lds.org) in General Conference, I can say that I know there is a loving Heavenly Father. Some spoke of angels, both heavenly and earthly, and after saying my prayers tonight I got such peace thinking of those who are watching over my sweet nephew Daner. Dane was diagnosed with AML, Adult Leukemia and is undergoing intense chemotherapy. My heart aches for him so much during the day. I just keep picturing ancestors that have gone on, watching and staying by his side as he endures this great pain and suffering. I am so grateful to be a member of God's Church and to have a prophet and apostles who are praying to teach and tell us what we need in our lives. Every speaker touched my soul, healed my heart, and gave me a new since of hope!
I want everyone to feel it, and every person I speak with I think how I want them to have this knowledge, guidance, and help.
I feel humbled to think of Saints all across the world suffering from disaster, who also are suffering, and all the things that we think are important just don't matter anymore.... I don't want to spend a dime on
anything... how can I when there is "someone in need?" The monetary things don't matter, it's about
loving and helping those in need. Now it's just convincing my children and setting that example.
I know who I am, why I am here, and where I am going! What a blessing!!!!!

Another humbling moment...

   .... simply reflecting on the past few weeks of my life.... my perspectives, expectations, desires... and within just a few simple weeks have been humbled and changed my views in so many ways! Big new houses, kids running, and that are very athletic, etc. So many expectations for myself and my kids!.. Looking on the internet for the next tropical vacation..... all this is completely insignificant in the big picture!

  About 6 weeks ago my best friend and little sister gave birth to baby 3. This gal has been dealt her cards of challenges... she lost her first baby after a few hours of life. Husband lost his job, their home feel through, and so much more on her plate..... waiting for this perfect little boy to arrive and find out only moments of actually making it full term, her baby was born with a brain disorder. 27 day's in the NICU, to be told daily that he may never walk, that he may have seizures throughout his life, and even may never speak and that they will have to learn sign language. And yet holding this sweet baby, and knowing it will be an accomplishment or even miracle to prove these doctors wrong, has changed my life!

  In a few weeks they will literally be in a home less than a 1/4 mile away. And just day's before her birth we felt we needed a bigger home, were looking for land, ready to build. And now, none of that matters! I can't find it a fluke that in this time of our lives, God did not have his hand in this?

  I have been more than humbled, I have children that speak, swallow, run, write. I have a roof over my head, cars that work, a loving husband who is an amazing father! My trials that once seemed unbearable are completely insignificant!

  I love John Bytheway's talk, "5 scriptures that will help you through almost anything!" He talks of life being like a 3 act play... preexistence, now, and life after death.... This part of the act is only for, "a moment" in the big picture! What reassurance the God loves us, that this angel is going to bless us and be perfect in the next life. I can't help but feel God's love in our lives!

Fresh "Powder" doesn't come often but we were sure glad to take advantage of it this year! WHoo Hooo.... Season Passes are paying off! And thanks to my awesome hubby for alway pushing us out the door to play!
He pulled our kids behind his truck all over the neighborhood on their snowboards all evening when we were "snowed in!"

Twas the Morning of Christmas.... "in the Davis house"

Twas the morning of Christmas,
when all through the house, stomachs were churning and
tossing cookies through the house!

Their stockings were hung, with no chimney this year,
in hopes that their flu would soon disappear.

Our kids were up wishing, for toilet so near,
with visions of vomit and eyes full of tears.

With dad disinfecting, and mom rubbing backs,
in fear of getting sick from their germs as they yak.

When what do their wondering eyes did they see,
why Santa had come, how could this be?

Trying hard to feel well and unwrap with glee,
they sprang to their toilets and hovered to their knees

Aften one child began... it soon became three,
all sad and crying in hopes this would just leave.

After hours of passing and much needed sleep
"Healthy Sky" became restless and just had to peek!

And because of her brightness she soon would discover,
she had everyones toys to play with and hover.

But after a much trying day, for all kids who were sick,
they stilled loved their Christmas and thanked good Ol' St. Nick!

And me feeling grateful for kids who endured this so well,
Mom is SO PROUD to be blessed with children SO SWELL!

Ryland Turns 11!

  My... time is flying by! My "Ry-Guy" turned 11 years old! Only 8 more years and he'll be on his mission. I'm embarrassed to say I already cry when I think of him leaving.
  His spirit really is older and wiser than mine! He behave's like a 40 yr old at time. We left him for about 20 minutes to babysit Sky who wasn't feeling well so I could run to my sisters and Kip could get her some sprite. In that 20 minutes Sky had lost her cookies.... he had picked up and straitened the house and swept the floors.
  This kid love's skating!!!! He skates or watches someone skate on the internet 90% of his free time! He's has hit the pre-teen years but I love that he'll still imagine and pretend with his younger siblings! His creativity puts mine to shame! He's an amazing artist and is always thinking outside the box!

Yesterday I was released from my primary chorister calling and into Enrichment ... "again" yes you can ALL laugh who have seen me serve this calling over and over all over the US! I was sad to see all the kids rush from the Chapel to Primary without me! I never thought I could love other's kids as much as my own, but I definitely felt this way.
I will miss Jessica Lassen snuggling on my lap, anxious participation from Timothy Tickal, funny comments from Kate Harmon, and many more! These kids are truly heaven sent and were a huge blessing for 2 years in my life....

Finding Joy in the Journey...

   Every night I settle into bed, say my prayers, try to count all the blessing of the day, and listen to the "Mormon Channel" on my I-phone to Conference talks! What a wonderful time to ponder, reflect, and be uplifted. This week I listened to Pres. Monson's Conference talk for Fall 2008 called Finding Joy in the Journey!
   A little over a month ago after being crammed packed with photo shoots and fitting Zumba, volunteering at the school... etc. I realized these were all good thing but something had to go. So I eliminated teaching at the gym, scheduled myself to be at home more with the kids and to try to spend quality and "non-stress time" with them. To organize my schedule with my family FIRST!
  This talk reassured me of what I was doing and made me appreciate my commitment to my family. I think off all the years, rushing through the day thinking that "tomorrow" will be better, "tomorrow" we'll DO better, tomorrow we'll make more money, "tomorrow" we'll be out of dental school, ...
and I love his quote. "....if you live for the tomorrows, you'll wake up and find you only have a whole lot of empty yesterdays!"
  Isn't this true...! Now is the day, to have fun, enjoy the moment, soak up everything your kids do. I often think of Sis. Hinckley saying... she'd rather laugh her way through than cry! What a great outlook!
   I've only have today, once! By darn, "I'm going to love it!" This is my new motto to live by for the new year!

4 Months of pure "Craziness!"

So I hope I don't forget much... I will summarize!...

   Kid's started school, 1,2, & 5th grades. 1 Preschooler. Ashtyn turned 9 in Sept. Brie turned 2 in Nov. Soccer, Soccer, Soccer! Ryland made the travel soccer team which has been great! We even squeezed a "beach trip" in for one of Ry's soccer tournaments this fall! Kip coached Renn's soccer team, and all the kids participated in Tumbling! Add that with achievement day girls, cub scouts, teaching Zumba, and close to 75 photo shoots, we've been busy! We even fit many skate park adventures in between that! We had "Grandma & Papa" come visit, built a fireplace with us and create some more Christmas decorations for the dental office at Kip work. We've worked, played, and really are enjoying some down time with the kids for the winter months! Time is flying by!
  I've cut back teaching at the gym to allow myself more balance between photography and being a mom. My kids pretend their me sitting at the computer editing while talking to clients or family on my cell phone! But I only edit when they are sleeping or kids at school and baby napping for the most part. At least that's my goal.
  Hoping to get a "getaway" this winter with Kip and maybe the kids!
   I've had overwhelming feelings of gratitude the past few weeks! I've had such a wonderful life with incredible friends who are so dear to me. From college roomies to neighbors, I love and miss them all. This time of year I love getting Christmas cards and usually cry because I miss everyone! I "adore" Kip but I do miss my "girls!" Life is great, I know we are supposed to be here in the "boro." Kip is happy here and finding much success in his dental practice.

So with ALL that said hopefully I can catch you up with just a few photos...

An "Everyone's birthday/ Sky's b-day"... a present for every grandkid... So FUN! Fishing with yummy treats.... as always with Grandma! Tubing down canals, visiting GREAT friends, riding 4-wheelers, & the 24th Parade celebrating Pioneer day! My kids were SO excited to be sprayed by the firetruck. Fun playing with cousins, pampering Grandpa after a bad motorcycle accident, and SAD goodbyes!

Trip to Salt Lake included more cousins, staying with Auntie Shannon, rafting down the Weber River with the Foy clan, and Kari getting night out with her much loved roomies from college after 11 years of not seeing one another..... GREAT TIMES and already counting down for another visit hopefully this winter!

So somehow this kid is the age of ten and thinks like a 40 year old. He is dad #2 in our house, leader of the "D crew" pack. I love this boy and though he hates pictures I got a few to share. .... word's from my 3 yr. olds mouth. Of course she is meaning "Celebration." Usually here Hellibration involves her changing into a new outfit, food storage items from my pantry, a little bit of junk food and a bit mess of books or toys... Today it was:

3 outfits
Chili Fritos
canned tomato sauce
all the trash cans in the house
around 50 books
and some jewelry

I decided here celebrations were truly what she was calling it but I have to laugh, remind myself that she is creating, exploring, and imagining. I love letting kids be kids, and it will all be gone in the blink of an eye!

So of course we are done having kids right? 3 Sunday's ago I got a strong feeling there may be one more baby waiting to come down? It was a strong and overwhelming feeling I had during Sacrament meeting at Church, ...out of the blue. But since then, I've been thinking I must have be hallucinating or something... Tonight I've concluded that is was just my laptop that had died.... "corrosion in the logic board" who decided 7 months later to come back alive. Crazy I know but it is my baby... My Macbook Pro. No diapers, feeding, etc. I even got to pick it's gender... it's a boy!

... really did have those feelings... I guess we'll forego the planned, soon to be scheduled procedures and give it some time and prayer?

My good friend Kat from Timanogos High School and her darling family drove from Florida to Va. We were so excited to get to spend some time visiting with them and letting our kids play,,, " 11 all together." Tin-foil dinners, smoore's, and the great outdoors, "our kids were in heaven!". My kids are already anxious to make the trek down to Fl. to visit their new friends. Such fun!

Kat and I were the least boy crazy in High School and the first to get married... who'd a thought?

Taking a Break....in Costa Rica.....

Day 1 : Hesitant to leave kids and flew to Orlando and on to Costa Rica... arrived and waited for friends...friends miss flight. We explore hotel and close surrounding areas and eat a great dinner.

Day 2: Friends flying to Costa Rica and we are trying to convince the hotel employees to take the river trip we had planned with us... they would not take just 2 people but we had no success. Went through San Jose to see the LDS Temple but had tires slashed and was followed by two men to get our money and luggage taken.... Kip surprised the jerks with his "espanol" and scared them off. Went to mall to wait for friends and ran over a nail.... same tire. Changed tire second time picked up friends and off we drove to Playa Negra to surf. Arrive go for a night swim, laugh, visit, and settle into our "huts"

Day 3: Wake, eat, surf all day with 30 and 50 sunscreen get completely fried. Laugh, live, play!

Day 4: Wake up.... "more severe burns showing up", Kip and I bitting at the bit get up at 6am surf, find tons of sand dollars, walk the beach, body surf, watch pelicans eat fish, locals fish with nets, time flies and we are MORE burned. Take off with the "sunburned crew" who want to make no body contact with each other as we squeeze into the SUV, eat at our fav.... Lolla's which looked like a slice of heaven. Beach front, great food, shaded by palm trees, perfect.... other than our burns....

Day 5: Up, packed into the itty bitty suv and drive to Arenal. See fun wild animal and stop... Brody feeds wild animals and they all come... freak us out and we hop in the car laughing! Good times, arrive at hotel, in what seemed like a paradise with a/c and amazing fruit, and natural springs warmed from the lava. Meet "Johnny" our fav. who took us to see the volcano and then to night swim in the springs and waterfalls, and ride down tunnels of warm water... SO FUN!

Day 6: Great food, pack and hike into a gorgeous waterfall, swim in freezing water, live, laugh, play! Drive back to San Jose for our last night's dinner and good byes... I cry my eyes out ... "because I'm a girl," and had such good times with such great people and not ready to face reality of my real life.

Day 7: Get kids souvenirs, return car, and say good-bye to all of Kip's new hispanic friends at Budget, snuggle my great hubby the whole way home.....get home to a perfectly put together home. Thanks to my great mother-n-law, Alana for cleaning literally every inch, cabinets, drawer, closet of my home with kids happy as ever.

Day 8: Reality, still hurting from the sun, soaking every last minute with Alana, sitting here crying and listening to kids crying themselves to sleep because grandma leaves in the night.......

Great & Much Needed Vacation .... created wonderful memories and feel so close to my hubby!

My 3 year old is a consistent streaker... always in just underwear... today it was a leotard... she insisted on visiting daddy and having only her leotard on, prancing through the office. No coverup, jackets, etc. Just a leotard... Tonight she undressed lil' sister Brie to nothing and the both were happy playing ... I asked Sky,
"are you teaching Brie how to streak?"... she responded with the happy and confident laugh ..."yep, I is!" Now Brie will not keep her clothes on... she has discovered Sky's freedom!

I'm a Mormon but I don't think it affects me as a snowboarder.

Mormon is in fact a nickname because our church is the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. We believe that Jesus Christ and the heavenly father God are two separate beings and the main difference between us and other Christian religions is that we have the Book of Mormon and the Bible. For me it's just a way of life - I don't drink, smoke, drink tea or coffee, or have sex before marriage. I've never drunk or smoked but I'll go out to dance and stay up late and then drive home at the end of the night.

Help in Haiti....

I have been torn about not being able to travel to Haiti myself to help those in need, mourn with those in mourning, and help provide relief. But I'm SO glad to know that the hours putting together hygiene kits, making blankets, etc. with the women in my church... that those are now in Haiti. The LDS church is some of the first to respond to natural disaster, with abundant amount of preparation they can quickly respond and provide to those in need. They have medical teams already there now... if you want to donate please go to the following website:

The Start of "Something Silly"

Everyone keeps telling me to write my "silly" moments down so I figured I would just blog them. Where to begin.... I seem to always be "running faster" than I should.... in other words doing more than I can realistically chew. As a result I tend to have really absentminded moments that lead to my crazy life.....

So my first moment... a classic... Ashtyn got a "beauty salon" last year for Christmas. "To be like Aunt Brittney" of course...complete with curlers....baby blue curlers. The day after Christmas I let Ashtyn do my hair, whatever she wanted. She did a great job brushing, cliping, and placing baby blue curlers right on top of my head.

A few hours later... we need a part for our new Wii, I volunteered to run to Game Stop or Wal-Mart to grab the part knowing both places would be packed. I raced into Game Stop and looked around, the part was not in stock and the line was outrageous with people giving me funny looks. I finally dart across the street to Wal-Mart and head directly to the electronic department and waited in line to purchase my accessory.

I heard two ladies ahead of me talking about needing a new hair stylist, someone who really new how to relax curly hair. I thought I would be helpful and tell these ladies of my ever so talented sister... as I finished giving them the "low down" and they looked at me with shock and strange faces ignoring me... I realized I still had baby blue curlers in my hair. I laughed the whole way home to think of how many people I passed and that I was giving hair tips!

So Kip and I try are very hardest to love everyone unconditionally.... whether your 2, 25, or 68... we try our best not to judge.... we've learned from experience,.... It ALWAYS comes full circle to bite you in the butt!

My apologies to all you moms who I looked at with disgust as they ventured out with a troop of kids, in clothes they played hard in all day, shoes missing, and snotty noses running down their faces. I was that mother tonight and now as I sit here I have to " laugh out loud" of the wonderful life I've chosen.

My two oldest children started dance tonight, Kip was at a meeting, which left me with the three smallest. I thought it would be fun to watch so I sat in the "waiting area" and after about 15 minutes of trying to make conversation with the other mom's as the acted annoyed with my children, crawling, chewing, nasty noses, and teasing. Then I realized the other mothers of only one child... which were dancing... were sending nasty glares my way as they would glance up from their novels.... I felt all pride leave myself, no hair style or cute clothes, and paint all over my hands from another home improvement project. Ahhh, I gathered us up and went to the car to wait out the other 40 minutes. I felt embaressed and frustrated and now, a few hours later, I feel entirely different. I feel blessed, happy that my kids love to move and wiggle, play and get dirty, greet new people, feel confident who they are and not worry about their surroundings. Yes I need a new hair-do but this is who I am, this is who we are. Take it or leave it, this is what God wants... us to be ourselves..."without the nasty noses of course" but to be a family. Supporting one another and not worrying about what the world wants us to be or do but what HE wants us to be and do. And when I look back at the mothers I may have judged I realize they are the mom's who where living righteously, and with God being the only one they need to answer to,.....
